Duration and structure
The MiQE/F is designed as a full-time study programme for a standard duration of 3 semesters. The study period can be extended up to 8 semesters. In total you will earn 90 ECTS credits, which are divided into core studies, contextual studies and Master thesis. The programme can only be started in the autumn semester.
Core Studies
In the Master's degree programme in Quantitative Economics and Finance, the core studies are divided into three parts: compulsory courses, core electives and independent electives The compulsory area comprises a total of eight courses, in the core subjects of micro- and macroeconomics, finance and method courses. The core electives area offers a variety of specializations. You have to choose at least 2 core courses in the sub-pillar Quantitative Finance/Econometrics and at least 1 core course in sub-pillar Economics. In addition, further courses can be selected from the wide range of courses from MiQE/F and other programmes. In the independent elective area you can further sharpen your study profile.
Contextual studies
Contextual studies aim at giving the students, alongside their specific subject competences, a social, historical and cultural awareness to accompany them on their future paths. It also offers skills courses, in which you get to know presentation and negotiation techniques or programming languages. The contextual studies is offered for all programmes on Master’s level.
Master thesis
In your Master thesis, you deal thoroughly with a scientific question. You directly apply the theories and empiricism learned in the core courses. The Master thesis is weighted with 18 ECTS credits and must be written in English.
